Root Cellar of San Marcos

Blueberry Preserves!  This jam-like preserves are homemade at the Root Cellar Cafe.  There is a certain spice that separates the flavor from other blueberry preserves, and I believe it to be nutmeg.

The Root Cellar Cafe is located in this cellar just off the Courthouse Square in downtown San Marcos.  Just get downtown and find a parking space.  Then wander around until you find it.  Downtown San Marcos is a nice place to wander.

Skillet Eggs and Red Potatoes:

Eggs and potatoes cooked together with onions and grilled grape tomatoes.  This dish is served with a toasted bagel.  Save some of the bagel for the blueberry preserves.

French Toast:

French toast on French bread ... how novel.  Wish the rest of the restaurants would do that.  Get their homemade sausage paddies to complement a great breakfast.

Quiche:

Great quiche here.   But the flavor changes with the day.  Here are two: above Quiche Lorraine and below Quiche Florentine.  And it comes with grilled tomatoes and a nice crisp bagel.

Traditional Egg Plate:

Eggs, bacon, bagel or other bread, fruit bowl, and their great blueberry preserves.

A Cozy Place for Breakfast or Brunch....
