El Tapatio of New Braunfels

This is country sausage and eggs inside of El Tapatio's breakfast burrito.  This was a meal which sustained me until evening.

On I-35?  Just take the Seguine Ave. exit and head west.  Be looking on the left next to the Faust Hotel.  If you get to a traffic circle you went too far.  Take the outside lane of the circle and head back around.  It will be on your right this time.  This is one of four locations in the New Braunfels area.  I haven't been to the others, but am sure they are as good as this one.  Go to their Facebook page for more information.

Pancakes & Eggs Plate:

Fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon.  I call it the Gringo special.  Me, when I'm in a Mexican restaurant, I like the Tex-Mex dishes.

Chorizo & Egg Plate:

My overall favorite is chorizo and egg.  Chorizo is a greasy Mexican sausage that the good restaurants cook the grease out of before adding the egg, and this is a good restaurant.  Of course, I have to add cheese ... to everything including their awesome refried beans.

Los Tacos:

Here are two favorite tacos of mine.  One the left is the bacon and egg taco, and below is the country and egg taco.  If you see country and egg on the menu, that means country sausage.  With El Tapatio's, there is meat in every bite.  This is a large taco with great stuff from one end of the flour tortilla to the other.

Look below at the whole taco.  This one's a chroizo-egg-cheese taco and is nearly as long as a fork.  And you will need the fork.  This one is overfilled and some of the good stuff will fall out on the plate.

Chicharon & Eggs:

Chicaron means pork rinds, and they're soft and not crispy ... like from frying.  They are chewy and make a great addition to scrambled eggs.  Look at how smooth the refried beans are.  Did I say, this is a good place for refried beans.

Mancachada & Eggs:

I usually taste my food before adding condiments.  Didn't this time.  The mancachada eggs here are hot!  And I didn't need to add the hot sauce.  Mancachada is a mixture of dried beef, tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos (Okay, so I forgot!), all finely chopped and sautéed before adding the egg.  As you can see from this picture, there are more mancachada than eggs.

The Breakfast Burrito!

Any taco on the menu can be upgraded to a burrito.  For just a little over the price of two tacos, El Tapatio will let you have this massive upgrade.  I had them add cheese and their great enchilada sauce on top.  This breakfast kept me full until dinner.  Inside was country sausage and egg.  On my bucket list is to get one of these with either barbacoa or carne asada inside.
