Breakfast at New Braunfels Farmers' Market

Look at that tasty crust wrapped around a thick link of smoked sausage.  Ummm good.   This is one of the great breakfast dishes at the Farmers' Market in downtown New Braunfels.  Yes, I go to farmers markets for breakfast.  For more information, go to www.nbfarmersmarket.com.

Here's the inside of a ham-cheese-egg crepe from Crepe Landia, a regular at the Farmer's Market.

This farmers' market is open from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. every Saturday in the parking lot at 186 S. Castile Ave.  South Castile is a block off of Seguin Ave. which runs west from I-35.  Clean inside restrooms are available.

Tartville has a great variety of wonderful breakfast items from quiche to bread pudding.

Here is a close up on their crustless quiche, loaded with egg and cheese.  It has bacon and jalapenos as well.  Tartville does make a quiche without jalapenos.

Here is a tray of quiche and their pigs in pocket.  The pigs come with or without jalapenos.  Of course, I have ordered the ones with jalapenos.

Empanadas!  These are little turnovers with great stuff in them.  On the left is a meat and sweet potato, and on the right is a pesto chicken.  The pesto chicken empanada is on my bucket list.

In this pan is an apple cobbler.  That's also on my bucket list to try.

Here is what's left of their great bread pudding.  They were giving out tastes and the public was buying.  Maybe next Saturday, they'll give out tastes of the apple cobbler.

I love crepes and this vender has a menu of them.  The crepes are thin and big.

Here is the crepe chef gently spreading the mixture across the griddle.

This is their crepe menu.  I tasted the traditional breakfast crepe which was loaded with egg, cheese, and ham.  Talk about good.

Voila!  Here is the finished product ready for taking to a nearby picnic table for breakfast.

This is a San Antonio baking company who has a table at the market.  Below is a photo of their water-based bread.  Both authentic French and Cuban breads are water based.  Most grocery store bread that poses at French bread is milk based and is loaded with sugar.

Cest La Vie also makes a ciabatta bread and that is on my bucket list for next time.

Almond croissants and cheese Danish ... need I say anything more?

More sweet croissants.  You have to be able to find something you like at New Braunfels Farmers' Market.  The market even has pizza and chili for breakfast.

Here is a look at the inside of some of their sweet-filled croissants.  From left to right, pecan paste,  cranberry, black berry, and apple.  I ate these at home.
