Del Rio is a great city for Mexican breakfast. My guess is that just about any restaurant you enter will have good Mexican cuisine. Many of these restaurants stand one after another along US-90. The one I stopped at was Don Marcelino's. Above is an egg and potato taco.
Marcelino's is the one with the colorful sign out front on Veterans Blvd (aka US-90). That's what grabbed me.
Chicharron & Eggs:
This Mexican breakfast has been on my bucket list for ages. Pork rinds cooked down until soft and scrambled in eggs. And the refried beans were great.
Barbacoa:
Is the barbacoa better in Del Rio. Yes ... a little.
Flour Tortillas -- Mas Grande!
Look at the size of that tortilla, and cooked all the way through. Great bread for a Mexican breakfast!
No Mas!
Sorry, I just made one stop on the way back from the Chili Cook Off in Terlingua, but here are some other items and their cost:
Machacado Ranchero Egg Plate -- $5.49
Machado and eggs plate is a dish of scrambled eggs with chopped peppers and tomatoes with the guest of honor ... chips of dried beef. Marcelino ups the anti and tops the dish off with a ranchero sauce, and just for $5.49.
Breakfast Burritos, Not Breakfast Tacos -- 10 for $12.99
