Union Street Station, New Braunfels

Union Station is a popular place for breakfast in New Braunfels, but don't go on Mondays.  That's the only day they're closed.  This is a small restaurant and popular, so I avoid it on weekends unless you get there around 7 a.m.  It's hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. except on Sunday when it opens at 7 a.m.

Union Street Station is located on the corner of Union Street and San Antonio Street just outside of the downtown area of New Braunfels.  It's an easy find from I-35, just take the Seguine exit and head west until you get to San Antonio Street.  Take a right on the circle to San Antonio Street and head north until you cross the Comal River.  Union Street Station is on the right.

Omelets Rule at Union Street:

There are 55 different omelets at Union Station.  The one above is the avocado-bacon omelet.  This one was a real treat.  Something about the way avocado and bacon mix to produce a great flavor.  Look how thick those grits are.

Huge Pancakes & Sausage:

Look at the size of those pancakes and look how big the sausage links are!  I have to have sausage with my pancakes, and these sausage links are great.

More Omelets:

This omelet is like a fajita omelet.  The omelet has seasoned beef, pepper-jack cheese, and fresh jalapenos.  Love the flavor combo of beef and eggs.  Nice biscuit too.  And look at those home fries.  Just chunk a little salsa on that.

Chicken-Fried Steak:

If you like cream gravy, chicken-fried steak is what to order.  Goes great with eggs any style and hash browns.  This dish comes with a bread of choice, but to me the only choice is a biscuit with more of that great cream gravy.  And don't forget to add extra pepper.

Refried-Beans, Chorizo, Cheddar Omelet:

Refried beans and chorizo sausage has always been a great treat for me, but to add this mix to cheddar and omelet eggs is heaven.  Had to get four tortillas to go with it.  Warning though, the tortillas are not grilled.  On top of this omelet is there homemade salsa.

Ham Omelet:

Here is ham omelet without cheese.  Without cheese!  Somebody else must have ordered that omelet. That lets you know that the people at Union Station are flexible with orders.  For me, English muffins always go good with omelets.

Biscuits & Sausage Gravy:

If you look at 3:00 or 5:00, you can see the edge of a biscuit peeking out of the sausage gravy.  And look at those chunks of sausage in the gravy.  And this is only one biscuit.  Standard order comes with two.    I added extra black pepper to the gravy.

Homemade Salsa:

Union Station makes its own salsa and this stuff is good.  See it on the hash browns below.

Bucket List for Union Street:

On my bucket list is the Cream-Cheese & Green-Chili Omelet.  Yes, I will be back to this place.

Hungry Texan:

Yes, this is one serving: hashbrowns, eggs, biscuit, pancakes, sausage, bacon, and ham!  No, I wasn't able to eat it all.  Took the ham and biscuit home with me for another morning.  A younger version of me would have cleaned the plates.
